Thanksgiving in Junction

Thanksgiving is one of my absolute favorite holidays. It’s always been a holiday full of time with family and a break before the chaos of the Holiday season really hits. I’ve always loved it and this year was no exception.

Thanksgiving Day was spent with Trent. Holidays aren’t always the easiest when you’re trying to figure out how to share families and figure out new traditions. We’ve learned lots over these past couple years and I’m always so grateful for how gracious and loving Trent is. I love building new traditions with him each year.

The day after Thanksgiving we took off to Junction Utah with my mom’s side of the family for a little weekend away. Junction is quite the tiny town and it was so refreshing to be off the grid and connecting with one another. We arrived on Friday afternoon and spent the day playing games and walking around the town. On one of our walks we were followed by a darling dog who we quickly grew to love. She had about 10 different names by the time we left and if I didn’t live in an apartment that had a no dog policy, she would definitely be ours.

Lucky for us, Junction is about an hour away from Bryce Canyon National Park! I’ve never been to Bryce and it was absolutely incredible. The red rocks and amazing formations blew me away. I’ve lived in Utah my entire life and have never gotten out here. There are so many unique National Parks in Utah and I want to do a better job of getting out and seeing all of them.

After Bryce, we went back to Junction for an delicious Thanksgiving feast and then began our journey home. It was a much needed weekend and I’m so grateful to be surrounded by such incredible people. It can be so easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others but it’s important to remember how blessed and lucky we are.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Bear Lake, Utah

Bear Lake holds a special place in our hearts. In high school, right when Trent and I were first getting to know each other, he invited my sister and I to come on a family trip with him. To this day he still has no idea why he invited us, Heavenly Father is so good. We went with his family for two summers in a row, we laughed, we made memories, we actually had our first kiss here. Bear Lake is the place where I began to fall in love with this darling boy and his wonderful family.

We were so excited when we began to plan our Bear Lake trip this year with Trent’s family. Trent and I got off the plane from Mexico the night before and then headed up to Bear Lake the next day. We were a bit exhausted, but it was totally worth it. We got up there later in the evening and had a delicious dinner at Cafe Sabor. It was so fun to be surrounded by family and enjoying the gorgeous scenery up there. The following days were filled with boating and playing on the beach. It was actually quite a cold weekend when we were up there but despite the cold, we all jumped in and had a wonderful time.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was enjoying Juanito Bandito and Disney’s Tarzan at the Pickleville Playhouse. Juanito Bandito is one of the most hilarious and creative productions I have ever seen. Many of us were crying we were laughing so hard. Trent and I loved it so much we have talked multiple times about returning just to see the show. If you go to Bear Lake, we highly recommend a stop at one of these shows. You won’t regret it.

I’m still working on surfing and thanks to Trent’s sister and brother in law, I’m getting it! Their Brigade Surf Boards are my favorite and I love it every time we go!

The week went by much too fast, as trips often do. Can’t wait to go back soon!

Summer Time

School is out for the summer and for some reason, life’s been just as busy as when I was teaching. It’s crazy to me how the days fill up so fast and I forget to take time to enjoy this break. Trent’s taking Chemistry this summer so that also adds to the busyness but luckily we still find time to do some fun things! We’ve loved hanging out with our families and exploring Utah. Trent and I talked about going on a big trip this summer but nothing perfect seemed to come around. elizaphoto (26 of 41)

Yesterday I got an email about cheap tickets to Cancun and on a whim, we booked them! Ah! I’m a little nervous about this last minute trip but I couldn’t be more excited to spend some quality time with T. Neither of us have been to Cancun so we need all the advice. Where are the best places to stay, fun things to do? Give us all the info!

So grateful for this crazy, adventurous life we have!

Weekends

elizaphoto (10 of 11)

We’ve had weeks of gorgeous spring weather around here and then when Saturday came,  it was pouring rain. I was just planning on sitting on the couch all day but luckily I have a husband who is always up for something fun!

Trent’s brother in law asked him to take care of a this darling jeep that he was gifting to his wife for Mothers Day and boy did we take care of it. 😉 (Don’t worry, we had complete permission to take it up in the mountains and we gave the car a solid wash when we were done, I promise!)

We went up to Saratoga Springs and cruised through the mountains all afternoon. It was a complete blast! They have tons of trails weaving all through the mountains for four wheelers, side by sides and little red jeeps.

I am so grateful for Trent and the wonderful adventure we call life. I have 10 days left of school and although I’m going to miss the little kiddos I teach, I can’t wait to have more time with Trent. This has been an exhausting school year for me and I’m excited to actually have more energy to be able to do things with T. This summer we have some fun things planned and I can’t wait, but until then, here’s to rainy weekend adventures!

Turks and Caicos

Life has been crazy around here but I finally got around to blogging about our Turks and Caicos trip…thanks to a sick Saturday spent on the couch. Every picture I look at makes me want to go back so it’s probably a good thing it has taken me this long…I’m definitely ready for summer.

We were invited to go on this trip by Trent’s sister and brother-in-law and boy are we glad that we said yes. It was AMAZING! The water was perfect, the weather was perfect, everything about this place is prefect. I don’t know if it was the time of year we went but there were very little bugs and I think I saw one mosquito. The food was amazing and I could definitely live the island life.

Dean and Colby who invited us on the blessed trip!

We spent most of our time surfing with Wake to Wake and it was a blast. Working with Nat and Mark was amazing and we would definitely go back just to hang out with them. They offer prime wake surfing along with all other boating accommodations and sometimes their dolphin friend will tag along! You can wakeboard, ski, tube or simply have them take you to different islands near Turks and Caicos. Nat and Mark are both great teachers and they make you feel like family. If you are ever in Turks and Caicos, a day with Wake to Wake is definitely a must!

Trent’s brother-in-law, Colby, has a company called Brigade Wakesurfing who specialize in state of the art surf boards. Wake to wake works with Brigade to give surfers the best quality of boards. It was so much fun to ride their different boards and try all of them out! The company also brought two pro surfers, Jake Caster and Cole Sorensen, to surf the boards. They were amazing! It was incredible to see the different tricks they could do on a surfboard and how easy they made it look. We were all so impressed!

Even us amateurs had some serious fun! Trent’s sister, Dean, is getting REALLY good! I was trying to learn from her! Surfing is such a fun thing to do while boating. Not a lot of high stress because you’re not going too fast but you can still do lots of neat tricks and moves.

I’m definitely still an newbie when it comes to surfing but Trent and I accomplished a major trick on this trip. We were pretty darn proud of ourselves 😉

On the trip, we visited smaller islands, jumped off a shipwreck, night surfed and did so many other amazing things. It felt so good to relax on a boat, soak up some rays and recuperate from this crazy thing called life. It was truly an unforgettable trip and I can’t wait to go back!
